The Journey to Opening
Moulton Park

Earlier this year, the site at the corner of High Road and Bell Lane was purchased with the goal of creating a lasting green space for Moulton. Before this, the land was privately owned and not accessible to the public. Thanks to the Biggadike Foundation’s support, the vision to transform this area into a community park became a reality.

The foundation’s trustees worked closely with local groups and volunteers to plan and prepare the park. Their commitment ensured that the space would be preserved and maintained for the enjoyment of current residents and future generations.

Highlights of the Opening Ceremony

The official opening ceremony was a heartfelt event that brought together many members of the community. Key moments included:

  • Ribbon-cutting by descendants of Joe Ward and Mrs Phillippa Walton, honoring the land’s history and previous owners.

  • Planting of a commemorative tree symbolizing growth and the park’s future.

  • Attendance by trustees of the Biggadike Foundation, local councillors, members of the Moulton Park Management Committee, community groups, and residents.

Steven Adcock, Chairman of the Moulton Park Management Committee, expressed the community’s gratitude: “This is a truly special day for Moulton. Thanks to the generosity of the Biggadike Foundation, this beautiful space is now protected and available for the enjoyment of current and future generations.”

Community and Volunteer Contributions

The opening of Moulton Park was not just a gift from the foundation but a collective effort involving local companies and volunteers. Their contributions ranged from landscaping and engineering to planting and maintenance. Some of the key contributors included:

  • Oglesby & Limb Limited

  • Oldershaw Group

  • G&D Engineering

  • James Stamp Rental

  • T & M Agriculture

  • Chain Reaction Plants & Gardens

  • Simon Sleight Plumbing & Heating

  • Acorn Landscapes & Sawmills

  • Friends of Moulton Park Volunteers

These groups provided essential services and hands-on support that helped prepare the park for public use. Their involvement highlights the strong community spirit that surrounds this project.
